dWebSpec defines a list of standard element types. See the overview section for the element descriptor for the list of the standard types. This would allow non-platform specific representation of the specification.

Some of these types correspond closely to HTML elements. Active platforms usually have list of elements (components or tags) that closely mirror the HTML elements.

Some of these, like messages, do not have direct HTML element correspondents.

There is a special type, "component", that represents complex elements not included in the standard list. These are also referred to as complex element. They are so called because they could include a composite of standard elements.

As part of the list of standard element, there is a dataTable, which is a complex element or component. Various platforms would have list of components that are available, like gridList, dbGrid, etc.,.
